Hootie Hoos Shake their Tailfeathers

Fall Semi-Formal has come and gone, and I'd like to take a moment to relive the magic on the blog. We had a lovely social team, Channa and Charlotte, on the job, and the event was certainly a roaring success. Once again with the help of the fab photographers of Camera-Chi, we caught much of the madness on film.

Until now, I've resisted glorifying my own pledge family in the
name of fairness and equality, but finally here they are (in part!)

Charlotte Bader and Jane Luer show some serious sisterly love

Formals are clearly a time for pledge family photos, as
Kari, Brittany, and Nicki demonstrate.

Can't wait for the next event! Let's also take a moment to recognize and congratulate the amazing new General Board and Cardinal Cabinet leaders for 2012!

Chi O Wish Week 2011

Congratulations to Tau Mu for running a fabulous and successful Chi Omega Wish Week this year! We held several great events throughout the week including a Chik-Fil-A benefit night, and a party in McMillan Cafe with our Wish Kid and her family. The week culminated in the annual Chi Omega Classic volleyball tournament, where Greeks and non-Greeks alike competed for glory and bragging rights on the South Forty Swamp.

The winning Wash U chapters this year were Sigma Nu and Alpha Epsilon Phi. Congratulations to everyone! It was a great week.

Cardinals and Straw and Sisterhood

Welcome back to campus Wash U (and Tau Mu)! Chi O's have gotten off to a sisterly start this year at Busch Stadium. Several sisters were spotted in the stands (that's alliteration for you, eh?) on Wednesday night to watch our St. Louis Cardinals rock the baseball diamond.

It was wonderful to see Tau Mu ladies back together again! It's been a whirlwind start to the semester, so look forward to more stories, events, and happenings from Chi O soon!

Tau Mu Alum on the Today Show!

Recently, our very own Tau Mu Alum Allison Shellito (now Allison Rinaldi) was featured on the Today Show after wearing a 127-year-old wedding dress down the aisle in June! The dress was first worn by Allison's great-great grandmother in 1884, and has been kept in near-perfect condition since then, making it possible for Allison to don it for her own wedding to another Wash U alum, Chris Rinaldi. The interview can be found here: http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/44201335/ns/today-weddings/t/something-old-bride-wears--year-old-wedding-dress?gt1=43001#.Tk_ngL-0G1Y. Congratulations on the wedding! We are so proud to call Allison a Chi O, and a Tau Mu sister!

Chi Os in Capri

Okay, so the last post of Hootie Hoos Go Global truly was the final installation, but the Tau Mu blog could not pass up posting such a adorable picture of our lovely ladies Carmi and Abby in Capri! It's almost the end of the summer, which means Tau Mu will be coming back together soon, so stay tuned for more news and events from Wash U Chi Omega!

Hootie Hoos Go Global, Pt. 5

After a brief hiatus, Tau Mu is back on the blogosphere for the final installation of "Hootie Hoos Go Global," featuring our very own sisterhood chair, Sarah Rubin! Sarah can be found in London this summer diligently pursuing overseas academia at King's College. In addition to taking courses, Sarah has also had the chance to take in the wealth of culture that London has to offer, including the Museum of London, Big Ben, Trafalgar Square, Buckingham Palace, and Tate Modern Gallery.

Sarah says "Cheers!" from a London phone booth.

It was a great summer for London, because aside from soaking up European culture, the city was busy in the wake of the royal wedding and with the arrival of the final Harry Potter movie premier! Sarah even got some photos of the Harry Potter cast. But the best part was obviously when she ran into a couple of Chi O sisters from Southern Miss at a store full of owl paraphernalia! The distant sisters throw what they know in front of the shop.

Sarah and some Southern Miss sisters!

Even though she's across the pond, Sarah can't seem to get away from those Chi Os! Check out her blog, http://skrwinninglondon.tumblr.com/, to read more about her London adventures. Stay tuned for more from Tau Mu as the new semester starts up in just a few short weeks!

Hootie Hoos Go Global, Pt. 4

Chi Omega has gone to Uganda! Our very own Lauren Karp, Pledge Class 2010, is in West Africa this summer participating in the School if International Training study abroad program. Currently, Lauren resides in Gulu, Uganda, but will later also be visiting Rwanda. The students in her program are learning about peace and conflict in this area of the world, and in particular the Twenty Year War and the Rwandan genocide. Lauren has spent her time talking with local families, interviewing NGOs, and traveling into some rural communities as well. We are so proud of this wise hoot for her summertime academic endeavors, and can't wait to hear about all of her African adventures!

Hootie Hoos Go Global, Pt. 3

Parlez-vous francais? Tau Mu Hoots do!

Our beauteous G.M. Jamie Brimberg-Sherman can be found living the Parisian life this summer in far away France, as can her little Abby Katsev and Allison Fricke. These ladies have been taking in some European culture, and meeting up for Chi O reunions in the process.
Jamie saying hey to Monet

Jamie and Allison are seniors and Abby is a junior. It's pretty clear they are truly taking advantage of their time away from their busy Wash U lives this summer, and all the hoots back in the homeland are very jealous!

Allison gives this ancient artist a thumbs up!

Bon voyage, ladies! Come back to St. Louis safe.

Hootie Hoos Go Global, Pt. 2

It may not be exotic, but it's certainly on the globe! Brittany Koch and Jane Luer got close to nature in Carbondale, Illinois last weekend. They were visiting Brittany's hometown to do some sisterly bonding while hiking, fishing, and spending time in the sun. There was a minor drama when Jane found herself jammed between a rock passage called "Fat Man Squeeze," but thankfully she managed the make it through.

Hootie Hoos Go Global, Pt. 1

This summer, Tau Mu is taking on the world! Starting with Pledge Class 2011's lovely Sarah Gallo. Sarah traveled to China to visit her Freshmen roommate, who is from Nanjing. She spent time in Beijing seeing the Forbidden City, Summer Palace, Great Wall (pictured below), and the pandas at the Beijing Zoo. She also spent time in Shanghai and Xi Tang. Sarah returned safely to the U.S. after two weeks, reporting that "It was a pretty crazy experience because I don't speak any Mandarin!"
Sarah gave a shout out to her Chi O sisters from the Great Wall.

Happy Birthday to President of the Year June L.D.!

In honor of the lovely June L.D.'s birthday, we'd like to belatedly recognize her and Emily McNish for their wins at the Greek Awards. She and the former Panhellenic President, our very own Emily McNish, both won big at the Greek Awards this year, and we couldn't have been prouder! June was awarded Sorority President of the Year, and Emily was awarded the Arete Woman of the Year.

Welcome to Chi Omega's Blog!

Tau Mu has gone technological!

Welcome to our new blog, a whole new way to stay up-to-date with what those hooties are doing! Since the site is brand new, the summer will be a time for Chi O to get accustomed to blogging, but by the Fall it'll be up and running full force as a place for Actives to share their activities, the Wash U community to check out our campus involvement, and potential Greek women to get the scoop on what Wash U Chi O is all about!
